A victim is anyone who is having abuse perpetrated against them. They may be male, female, old, young, a spouse, a child, a parent. Statistics are clear though – domestic violence is most likely to be perpetrated by a male to a female partner. See our section on perpetrators for more information.


Of course, not all men are violent. But we need to have a real, honest conversation about this dangerous issue, an “issue” that is resulting in the death of a woman every week in Australia, at the hands of her partner.
