National Reconciliation Week 2026

27 May - 3 June

Join the Common Grace movement this National Reconciliation Week.

Each year from 27 May to 3 June, National Reconciliation Week invites us to honour, listen deeply, and learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is a time to reflect on our shared history, to tell the truth about the past, and to recommit ourselves to justice and right relationship.

This year’s theme is ‘All In: Reciprocity as Reconciliation’ - an invitation to step off the sidelines and commit wholeheartedly to the shared work of reconciliation.

Watch this conversation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Christian leaders Safina Stewart and Aunty Donna Meehan as they reflect on what it means to be “All In” for reconciliation - and why reciprocity is at its heart.

“All In is a wholehearted commitment - not symbolic, not surface-level, not occasional. Reciprocity reminds us that reconciliation is shared work - done with one another, not to one another or for one another. Without reciprocity, reconciliation becomes performance. Without commitment, it becomes shallow. But when we bring the two together - wholehearted commitment and mutual responsibility - reconciliation becomes embodied, authentic, transformative.” - Safina Stewart, Wuthathi and Mabuiag Island woman and Common Grace’s Storyteller and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Lead.

In 2026, we’re providing a full Resource Toolkit to help you meaningfully engage with National Reconciliation Week. Sign up to receive this 2026 Resource Toolkit. You might choose to use these resources in your church service on Sunday 31 May, or adapt them for other gatherings throughout the week - such as school chapel services, prayer meetings, Bible studies, or community groups. We’ll also be sharing content via email and social media, so make sure you're following along on Common Grace’s Facebook and Instagram pages.

All In: Reciprocity as Reconciliation

All In: Reciprocity as Reconciliation is an invitation to step off the sidelines and commit wholeheartedly to the shared work of reconciliation.

It's a reminder that reconciliation isn't the responsibility of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples alone - it belongs to all of us. Rooted in the spirit of reciprocity (giving and receiving, listening and learning), this theme calls us into relationships shaped by mutual respect, truth-telling, justice, and humility.

To be All In is to recognise that reconciliation isn't a one-way act of charity. It's a shared journey - walking together toward healing and flourishing for all.

Donate to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander justice

Reconciliation is not just a hope - it's a shared responsibility. In Australia today, children as young as ten are being locked up, and it is Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who are bearing the brunt of this injustice. Common Grace is standing alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Christian leaders to call for change, including raising the age of criminal responsibility. Your donation helps amplify First Nations voices, ensures resources continue to be created and shared freely with churches, and equips communities to pursue Jesus and justice in practical ways.

What is National Reconciliation Week?

National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June) is an annual celebration that builds upon the respectful relationships shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples of all cultures in these lands now called Australia. During National Reconciliation Week all Australians are invited to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories, to share that knowledge and help us grow as a nation.
