Dear Deputy PM Barnaby Joyce, Tony Windsor, and Mark Coulton

The proposed Shenhua mine will blow a 35 square km hole in the heart of Australia's food bowl. It risks thousands of years of future farming for a 30 year mine that will make climate change worse. As a steward of this precious land, I urge you to stop the mine.

We keep stripping the earths resources at an abnormally high rate to feed our economy without thinking of the effects it will have on the actual planet.

We need to think of generations to come and care not only for the earth but for the people too. If we only think of satisfying ourselves today and not of the impact of tomorrow then what have we done to better people or sustain our home that we call planet earth? Nothing, we just feed our greed and ambitions at the cost of the environment, people’s health, wellbeing and the future.
