Join us this Advent as 25 contributors from across the Common Grace movement reflect on the surprising ways God's nearness disrupts the ordinary.
About this 2026 Advent series
Our world is increasingly marked by distance - fractured communities, loneliness, the constant churn of outrage and opinions that keep us separated from one another. We have learned to live at arm’s length: from those we disagree with, from our own pain, and even from God.
But Advent refuses to leave things as they are. In Jesus - Immanuel: God with us - God does not remain distant, but draws near in flesh and blood. God enters our world in a divine disruption that unsettles, interrupts, and reorders ordinary life. Angels appear, plans unravel, fears are exposed, and unlikely people are called into courageous love and action. As God draws close, people find themselves called to do the same - drawing closer to one another, to their communities, and to the world around them. And with each encounter, distance gives way to comfort, healing, justice, and restored life together.
In today’s fractured world, Advent still disrupts. It unsettles our self-sufficiency and calls us out of isolation, inviting us into deeper connection - with God, with one another, and with the pain and hope of the world around us. Advent draws us toward compassion instead of indifference, communion instead of division, love instead of fear.
Through 25 devotionals from contributors across the Common Grace movement, we invite you to sit with the stories of Advent and notice where God’s nearness disrupts the ordinary. As you reflect on the coming of Christ, may you discover that Advent is not simply a season to remember, but an invitation to be changed - to welcome God’s presence into your own life, relationships, questions, and longings.
We pray this journey draws you closer to Jesus as he calls you into a new way of living, where injustice is disrupted and the world is transformed through his generous, healing love.

Common Grace is a diverse movement of individuals, churches and communities passionate about Jesus and justice. We have come together as those from different Christian traditions who stand in the continuity of the historic Christian faith, centred on the life, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ as witnessed to in holy scripture. This series highlights the diversity of followers of Jesus across these lands. These voices may not agree with one another (or with you), but they are each an expression of longing for the God whose love we see break through in Jesus.
