From persecution in Afghanistan to being the general manager of two restaurants. See Hassan's story of seeking asylum in Australia.

As a Hazara in Afghanistan, Hassan’s life was in danger. He fled to Pakistan as a young man before making the gruelling journey by boat to Australia. Since being released from the Darwin detention centre in 2008, Hassan has worked his way up from kitchen hand to the General Manager of two restaurants. Each week, Hassan volunteers as an English teacher at STARTTS to help asylum seekers and refugees learn the English language.
