When I visited Germany six years ago I was stunned and humbled by the transparency with which they acknowledge and confront the evils their nation has committed in the name of asserting the superiority of one race over all others, and of national pride. I pray that Australia will gain the same courage to move out of denial and defensiveness and forward into healing and reconciliation.
