Below are some ways you and your faith community can engage further and take action for God’s beautiful creation.
Wild at Art - threatened species art competition for kids run by the Australian Conservation Foundation
From Wednesday 7 September (Threatened Species Day) to Monday 31 October the Australian Conservation Foundation is inviting children aged 5-12 to create an original artwork of one of Australia's many threatened native animals or plants, along with a short written component on their chosen threatened species. Platy-Project
Throughout September the Australian Conservation Foundation is asking people to head down to their local creek or river, find a quiet place on the bank, try to spot a platypus and record what you see to help researchers understand more about this elusive animal and how we can better protect it. Knit For Climate Action
Since September 2020, knitters from across the Common Grace movement have been putting their knitting skills and deep care and concern for God’s beautiful creation into action by knitting more than 700 #KnitForClimateAction scarves. Each scarf has been generously crafted as a powerful reminder of our warming climate through the vivid stripes representing the last 101 years of the average global temperatures.
These hauntingly beautiful scarves are being generously gifted by the Common Grace movement to our nation’s leaders with a call to take urgent climate action. Five Leaf Eco Awards
The Five Leaf Eco Awards were founded in 2008 by Jessica Morthorpe who is part of Common Grace’s Creation and Climate Justice Team. The Five Leaf Eco Awards are a national ecumenical environmental change initiative encouraging church communities to take holistic environmental action. These awards encourage and support churches from across all denominations in Australia to make sustainable changes in the practical running of their venues as well as encouraging their community to become more informed and engaged in taking action for God’s creation. Through the Five Leaf Eco Awards program your church will be provided assistance and support in taking steps towards sustainability, with your efforts rewarded and promoted as well as helping connect you to a network of churches around the country already taking action.
