This Sunday, can your Church stand in solidarity with the men on Manus Island who are urgently calling for freedom and safety?
Through prayer and action this Sunday, will your church community stand with the men on Manus who are urgently calling for freedom and safety?
After 24 days of peaceful protests since the closure of the Manus Camp, the men there have been forcefully and violently removed and are urgently calling for us to help them find freedom and safety.
We're asking Churches from across Australia to stand with the men on Manus in a show of solidarity during our Sunday services.
We're asking your church to pray publicly in your service, then take a photo of your congregation standing with crossed-arms raised as a public sign of solidarity.
If your church is unable to take part in the action, you could also share the above video during your service. Download the video
When the Church speaks up for justice, when we stand with those marginalised, when we confront the powers that oppress, we are in sync with the heart of God and the call of Christ to liberate the captives, to set free those in bondage.
What if my Church doesn't want to get involved?
If you're not able to get your whole church involved during the service, that's okay. You could instead take a photo with a few friends before or after a service, and take time together to pray for the men on Manus.
If you or your Church want to stand in solidarity with the men on Manus, add your name to this page and we'll email you on Sunday with a reminder to take and upload your photo.
When the Church puts our neighbour first, when we choose the path of compassion over apathy, when we hear the cries of those facing injustice, we're walking in step with the heart of God who responds to injustice, who hears the cry of the poor, and calls his Church to the same.
We pray for grace, justice and a peaceful outcome for all affected. Blessings
At Banyule Network UC – Rosanna, we were reminded today that Jesus, too, was a refugee who had to flee a murderous regime as a child. As an adult, he taught that to welcome a stranger is to welcome him.
Our hearts welcome you as we reject what our government is doing to you.

May the determination, compassion and courage of ordinary Australians overcome political games and expediency.
Because we are all made in the image of God.

When I needed a neighbour
Were you there, were you there?
When I needed a neighbour
Were you there?
And the creed and the colour
And the name won’t matter
Were you there?
Our Church, in partnership with Christ Church Mortdale, took a picture today to stand against the government’s inhuman treatment of asylum seekers on Manus. This photo was taken at a joint partnership of ministry to asylum seekers and refugees. We are a congregation with many refugees who have made a home here and are an asset to our country.
We offer our prayers for the men on Manus.
“for in its (their) welfare you will find your welfare” Jeremiah 29:7b
We stand with you in compassion and solidarity. Grace and peace to you all.

This morning we heard Matthew 25: 31-46
Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry or thirsty or naked or sick or in prison, and did not take care of you?
This is the Gospel of the Lord.
We say Amen
“Inasmuch as you did it to the least of these you did it to me …” Jesus. Well acquainted with Jarrod, we shared the story of his recent encounter with the men of Manus and where the face of Christ was to be seen in unexpected giving and receiving of care.
We stand in support with the refugees who have been abandoned by our country. We oppose the decisions made by the Australian Government and we call for our Government to step up and bring them here.
We stand in solidarity with the men on Manus out of simple compassion and in response to the Gospel call to give the thirsty a drink and to welcome the stranger
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did for me.”
Establish Church stands in solidarity with the men illegally detained on Manus Island and calls on our government to act with haste and compassion.
