Sign up to join us at our Sydney #EndTheWaiting Action Evening!
Over the last 75 years, Australia has welcomed one million refugees. That legacy is one of our greatest strengths.
But right now, more people are displaced worldwide than at any point in history — and Australia is falling short of our own commitments to them.
To follow Jesus is to practise love, care and welcome. As the Church lives this out, we remind the nation who we can be.
You're invited to an Action Evening for #EndTheWaiting in Sydney.
This isn't a night to just fill our heads with new information — it's a night to use our hands and feet to make change. Come for connection over dinner, hear from the Common Grace team, and then take real action together, contacting decision-makers on the spot as we call on Australia to:
-
Grow the Refugee and Humanitarian Program to the 27,000 places we pledged at the Global Refugee Forum
-
Make complementary pathways — like skilled refugee labour and student settlement — a permanent, additional part of our humanitarian program
-
Give people awaiting protection outcomes access to work and Medicare, so they can live with dignity while they wait
Please bring a device (phone or laptop) — we'll be contacting decision-makers together on the night.
Event Details: Thursday 27 August · Venue TBC, Sydney · 6:00–8:00pm AEST
Sign up to let us know you are coming.
As we celebrate one million stories, let's end the waiting for those still being denied a place to belong.
