I recognise that we have all travelled to this land that we now call Australia and that as a nation we have much to celebrate, but there is still more to be done if all people who call this island their home are to enjoy their human rights and to thrive. It is my hope that the soul searching that is taking place as to the appropriateness of this date as a day of national celebration will lead to a brighter future for our First People, the next people (of which I am a part) and those who have arrived most recently.
