I pay my respects to their elders past, present and future, and acknowledge Aboriginal peoples are hurting and mourning the loss of freedom to live as they had for many years on their own land. That loss commenced on this day. I also acknowledge that Aboriginal peoples have a strong spirit of survival and will continue to live on in the peaceful community minded and embarcing way they have for many years past, having survived for over 60,000 years. I acknowledge that many of the issues today were bought here on this fateful day, along with the removal of children, the shooting, the abuse and trechery bought by settlers there were other issues such as alcohol which have place an added burden on their communities forevermore. I stand with you in sorrow at the actions of those who raped, pillaged and terrorised your land and people.
