On September 24, 2020, the night before the #FundOurFutureNotGas actions, Common Grace held a prayer vigil in support of School Strike 4 Climate, Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network, Australian Youth Climate Coalition and others, to respond to the voices of the younger generations crying out for climate justice. They asked us to join them in calling on the government to use COVID-19 recovery funds to create clean jobs that care for country, climate and our communities. Recovery funds should not be spent on gas and other damaging fossil fuel projects.
Aboriginal Christian leaders have historically called prayer gatherings prior to a march or rally and then cover the event in prayer during the march or rally. In this tradition we came together to watch, pray and act.
