Prayer written for the upcoming 2025 Federal election by Tobias Beckmann
The LORD is King, let the nations tremble!
Let the nations praise your great and awesome name, for your name is holy!
Mighty King, lover of justice, you have established fairness.
You have acted with justice and righteousness throughout Israel.
Psalm 99:1a,3-4 (NLT)
Father God, we praise you in these lands we now call Australia! Thank you for our oddly peaceful ritual: where we come together as a nation – with those we agree with and those we don’t – to choose our political representatives and enjoy a democracy sausage.
King Jesus, thank you that you love justice and fairness. We pray for everyone seeking election to parliament this year. We pray that, whether they know you or not, that they would love justice and fairness too.
We pray that, through the way that we vote and hold our MPs to account, we would be working in step with You to bring about a safe, free and flourishing nation and world.
Holy Spirit, please guide us as we vote. Help us to seek the Kingdom and give us words to speak out against injustice. Help us to show love and grace to those we disagree with.
Lord, may you bless us at this time.
