Election 2019 Church Billboard Campaign - Week 1
As we celebrate Easter in the context of a Federal election, we remember that God is active in our world. Jesus taught us about the ultimate upside-down kingdom: where the corrupt rulers of the day are unseated, the vulnerable honoured and power is given to the humble. As followers of Jesus we are called to live out Jesus’ teaching about God’s Kingdom and participate in it’s overflow on earth.
Our sign for this week brings together Easter and the election. We highlight the incredibly good news of Easter, that Jesus is the risen King, the victor over sin and death. The oppressed can rejoice now that Jesus is made Lord of all. Easter also means that unjust rulers are on notice, that they are merely provisional authorities, and that Jesus will have the last word.

Church Bulletin Materials
This week our Church is using a sign developed by Common Grace (www.commongrace.org.au) in the context of celebrating Easter five weeks out from a Federal election. It reads:
He is risen!
Poor rejoice
Rulers tremble
Happy Easter!
At this time we remember that God is active in our world. This week let’s pray: Risen Jesus, we thank you for the wonderful news of your victory over sin and death and that you have been appointed as Lord of all, the judge of all the earth. We thank you that you are a humble and compassionate judge that lifts up and hears the cries of the lost, the last and the least. We thank you that you are the just King who will call to account the corrupt. As we come to the Federal election we pray for wisdom for our nation, help us to hear the voice of those in need, and raise up servants who will rule with compassion and for others. Amen.
Our prayer is that these materials are useful to your church community as you prepare for the Federal election.
We’d love you to send us a photo of your church using the sign for us to share on social media - to info@common grace.org.au.
