Palm Sunday Rallies 2022

This Palm Sunday, join with thousands of Australians who are standing together to call for justice and dignity to be shown towards refugees here in these lands now called Australia and for people seeking asylum around the world.

On Palm Sunday (April 10th) we remember the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, and the celebration of God's kingdom drawing near – a kingdom in which those who are poor, persecuted and mourning find hope.

This year, we are encouraging our Common Grace community to take some time on Palm Sunday to consider how we can celebrate the coming of God's kingdom through the welcome we show to those who are poor, persecuted and mourning. We invite you to join with thousands of others, Christian and non-Christian alike, who are standing together to call for justice and dignity to be shown towards refugees here in Australia and for people seeking asylum around the world.

Over the past weeks, we’ve seen examples of communities coming together showing deep love and compassion for their neighbours across these lands now called Australia as record breaking rain and floods have inundated communities in south-east Queensland and NSW. We've seen communities coming together and emergency response teams work tirelessly to save lives and support those who have lost homes and livelihoods in this crisis.

We need to model this loving, compassionate and inclusive response to crisis once more. We are called to love our neighbours – and particularly in the face of this escalating crisis in Ukraine and ongoing calls for help from our brothers and sisters in Afghanistan, we’re reminded that our neighbours include those seeking safety on our shores. So, this Palm Sunday, join Common Grace in prayer and action, standing in solidarity with our refugee neighbours and add your voice to advocate for dignity, compassion, justice and welcome in these lands now called Australia.
