How you can get involved

Supporting Local Churches

We honour the place of the church in our lives as Christians and believe that God works through churches to achieve his purpose of reaching the lost and equipping the saints for the work of ministry. We will never consider ourselves to be in competition with the church and want to work as closely as possible with local churches to resource them to do the work of justice that they long to do.

We also often find ourselves in discussions with church pastors and youth leaders who confess to finding engagement in 'social justice issues' an overwhelming part of their busy ministry roles. We get it! If we, as a team, find these issues complex to understand and engage with when this is 'what we do' we can't imagine how daunting it must be for someone in a pastoral role who has so many competing priorities!

Our genuine prayer is that Common Grace would be able to 'fill the gaps' a little when it comes to this aspect of church ministry, by providing resources that can be used in church services and home groups, or in sermon preparation, pastoral care situations, and planning. We've got resources being developed for all kinds of things - such as how to approach the Domestic and Family Violence that we know is happening in our congregations.

We'd also love to connect church leaders with one another, and to create safe forums for asking questions. Imagine a space where a roomful of pastors and ministers could have a cuppa and chat with an expert on climate change, getting all the confusing questions dealt with in one go, and then leaving with a list of brilliant resources already created online for their use? That's what we are hoping to do and be!

If you are a church leader who would like to stay in contact with us so that we can resource you in any way that is helpful, we'd love you to sign up to our Church Leaders database and we will be in touch. Please write to us at [email protected].

If you would like your church to be involved with Common Grace, but you are not a leader there, then we encourage you to make a time to chat to your pastor/minister to let them know about Common Grace and ask how you can help them best make use of our resources.

We'd also love churches to consider contributing to Common Grace's work financially and would be happy to talk to you further about what this might look like. You can find out more information about our funding here.

Partnerships

Likewise, we champion the place of other organisations (Christian and non-Christian) that are already doing the ongoing work of justice, and have built a wealth of wisdom, resource and credibility over many years that we, as a fledgling movement, can only aspire to.

We don’t ever want to be in competition with these organisations, but rather seek to stand alongside them where our values are aligned, partnering with them, amplifying their significant work, and contributing a distinct Christian perspective where appropriate.

If you are involved with an organisation that you think would be a perfect partner for us, we'd love to hear from you! Please email us at: [email protected]

Volunteer

We're currently building a network of volunteers who contribute to Common Grace in different ways, including graphic designers, writers, video editors and more. Is there a way that you can volunteer your skills that would help take us forward as a movement? If so, please indicate your skills and interest here and we will be in touch as soon as we have the opportunity and capacity to do so.
